About George Ameal Wilson
George Ameal Wilson, like his favorite artist Norman Rockwell, wants his artwork to tell a story. People of all races are part of the Western Experience. They were here; they did something; and he believes we need to open up to our history and see that this country was built by everyone. His goal is to convey his thoughts and messages through the people in his paintings.
He spent his first 10 years in Texas, where he developed his love for cowboys watching Roy Rogers and other Western movies with his grandmother. He is also fascinated with Native Americans, and may have some Chocktaw Indian blood. After moving to Los Angeles, he began drawing for his teachers. He graduated from Los Angeles Trade Technical College, and began his career as a technical illustrator and commercial artist, also earning a B.A. in fine arts from Cal State L.A. He painted (on the side) for many years as he did graphic design for major corporations and small businesses in Los Angeles., Denver, Tucson and Seattle. He is recently returned to his own art, painting in oils, watercolors and pastels in his casita studio in Pahrump, Nevada.
